Toyota and Nissan truck and SUV steering parts

Many models span decades and several front-end designs. Identify yours first.

Identify the steering type

MotorTrend explains that independent front suspension steers through either a rack-and-pinion or a centerlink with idler arm. Rack trucks use inner tie rods (rack ends) and outer tie rod ends. Win Store tables list rack-end thread and taper sizes, which shows how much they vary. Check your service manual or VIN lookup.

Buying notes

  • Rack boots: replace torn boots before dirt ruins the rack.
  • Lifts on IFS trucks change tie rod angles. Use the lift maker's parts list.
  • Heavier outer tie rod ends or sleeves are common upgrades; measure first (see sizing).
