Fitment lines
Year, model, drivetrain (4x2 or 4x4), axle and lift height all matter. A Ford Super Duty 4x2 and 4x4 have different front suspensions, according to Ford's own spec sheets, so a "Super Duty" listing without drivetrain is not enough.
"For off-road use only"
SEMA warns that the "off-road use only" label carries no legal weight for emissions parts that can be installed on highway vehicles. Steering parts are a different area of law, but the lesson is the same: the label is not a legal shield. If you drive on the street, ask your state.
"Made in USA"
Under the FTC standard, an unqualified claim means all or virtually all made in the U.S. Qualified claims, like "assembled in USA from imported parts", mean less.
Recalls
Look up your VIN on NHTSA's recall site before you buy. A free recall repair may cover the part.
Ask the seller
- Is it new, remanufactured or rebuilt?
- What joints, and are they greaseable?
- Is hardware included?
- What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?
Where this comes from

- FTC: Complying with the Made in USA standard
- Federal Register: Made in USA labeling rule (2021)
- NHTSA: Look up recalls by VIN
